Course Overview

Certificate III in Automotive Body Repair Technology

                                                     National Course Code: AUR32120

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform a broad range of tasks on a variety of light vehicles in the automotive retail, service and repair industry.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

        Pathways & Accreditation

This course is government-accredited and has national recognition.The qualification is aligned with the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) level 3.

Course Pathways:

Once students have successfully completed AUR30620 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, they can apply for jobs within the automotive industry which can include motor mechanic or automotive light vehicle mechanical repair technician.

The further study pathways available to students who undertake this qualification include:

  • AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis

  • Other Certificate IV level qualifications from the AUR training package

Job roles and titles vary across different industry sectors. Possible job titles relevant to this qualification include:

 

  • Qualified Panel Beater / Collision Repair Technician

  • Structural Repair Technician (measuring, pulling, MIG/spot welding, bonding/riveting)

  • Plastic Repair Technician / Trim & Glass Fitter

Course Structure

A total of 31 Units (17 Core and 14 electives) must be completed and deemed competent to achieve the qualification AUR32120 Certificate III in Automotive Body Repair Technology. Participants who achieve competency in any unit/s will receive a Statement of Attainment (provided USI is verified) for that unit/s without completing all 31 units in the qualification. Students completing all the required units of competency will attain full qualification.

Assessment Methodology 

Assessment methods used for this qualification are varied and will provide a range of ways for individuals to demonstrate that they have met the required outcomes. Assessment methods may include:

  • Written questions

  • ProjectsPresentations

  • Report writing

  • Role plays/observations

 

At the beginning of each unit, your trainer and assessor will outline the assessment tasks that must be completed

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)/Credit Transfer (CT)

Berry International College will offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer (CT) to all prospective students through the enrolment process.     AURVTN120      Remove and replace major welded panels on vehicles    
    AURVTN123      Repair adhesive bonded structural damage on vehicles    
    AURVTN132      Inspect vehicle damage and determine repair procedures
